Construction law; payment and performance issues, mechanic liens, construction defects, contract drafting and negotiating, bidding issues, and insurance coverage; real estate law: commercial leases, landlord/tenant disputes, and litigation; business and commercial litigation: trade secrets, non-competition/non-solicitation agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and employment disputes.

Background

A native of Montana, Matt has practiced with Stamper Rubens since 2002. He concentrates his practice in the area of construction law, representing owners, architects, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers with regard to payment and performance issues, construction defects, liens, contracts, bidding issues, and insurance coverage. Matt’s practice also includes real estate matters and litigation, and other business and commercial litigation.

Matt is admitted to practice before all Washington state courts and the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, as well as Idaho state courts, and the U. S. District Court for the District of Idaho.

Matt has litigated multiple jury trials, bench trials, as well as arbitrations, including to the American Arbitration Association panels for complex commercial litigation.   He has further prepared the briefing and argued multiple times to the Washington Court of Appeals and the Washington Supreme Court.   The appellate issues have ranged from contract disputes, real estate disputes, and premise liability issues.
